Failing Digital Transformation Projects

Reports talk about 'digital transformation churn' as high as 84%. Digital transformation projects can fail for many reasons, both on the strategy and executional level. But, with Implementation of digital transformation projects, few things can go as wrong as with its most complex, yet crucial element - people. Digital transformation involves technologies and humans. Unfortunately, we tend to ignore the latter (humans) when leading change.

Resistance to Change

Digital transformation initiatives, championed by corporate management, are met with employee resistance and skepticism. Underneath the corporations' high digital ambitions, for average employees digital transformational initiatives mean one thing : more responsibilities, bigger workloads and continuous inflow of new digital platforms to work with.

(Un)Learning Pressure

Burden of digital transformation is born by employees who are expected, pressured and even forced to completely unlearn old ways of working and simultaneously learn new ones, all while being expected to perform & deliver results. Namely, problem with learning is that to embrace a new logic, we have to unlearn the old one. When we unlearn, we step outside the mental model in order to choose a different one. And for all of these it takes, time, patience and a lot of effort.

Organisational Uncertainty

Emotional reactions to change are an inevitable response to the real and perceived disruption that accompanies organizational adjustments entailed by digital transformation programs. Most people prefer to stay in their comfort zone then venture into an unknown territory as maintaining an existing habit is easier than changing. Trying something new means there is a possibility of failure.

Digital Adoption Programs

When facing resistance to change to planned or undergoing digital transformation projects it is important to acknowledge emotional background to it. In these instances, digital adoption or user adoption programs become crucial enablers of successful implementation of digital transformation projects.

Ask more about it

Digital adoption is defined as achieving a state in which digital tools are being used as intended, and to the fullest extent. Digital adoption, quite simply, refers to achieving a state within your company where all of your digital tools and assets are leveraged to the fullest extent.

Who is it for?

User adoption services are aimed for all of those who are are managing or struggling with digital transformation projects. Independent of your formal title, adoption of software by end users is a crucial success metric.

In case you're not in charge of digital transformation projects, but you you are one of those negatively impacted by improper implementation or struggling with adoption of new software solutions into your daily workflows, we can definitely help you too!

When is it needed?

Ideally, having a plan or strategy how to ensure that your colleagues and technology users develop a productive relationship with their new software should be defined in the planning stage of each digital transformation program.

However, if your digital transformation programs are already underway or in worst case already showing signs of failure, digital adoption services can radically improve the final outcome and help you turn things around for the better.

Who benefits?

Adopting technology to its fullest extent allows the organisation to get a return on investment (ROI) on its digital asset. Don't just spend money on the latest tools & technologies but actually take full advantage of them.

Primary beneficiaries of digital adoption services are the new technology target users themselves. Not only will they accept the change in their workplace entailed by digital transformation programs, but also find new confidence as well.

How is it implemented?

Our services and work with target users is best delivered in person and on-site. This means that some of our staff would work side by side with you and your colleagues across different stages of digital adoption programs.

However, depending on the situation, intensity and scope of the adoption program, majority of our program content can be delivered from a distance too. This means that instead of on-site and in person collaboration, majority of work would be done remotely via video-conferencing and other communication tools.

How long does it take?

Our Basic level package is currently designed to be delivered within three months (90 days). Premium package entails collaboration through a calendar year and aims to deliver results within 12 months (365 days).

Based on individual requests, digital adoption programs can be decoupled and delivered only as individual phases. This means that for example instead of complete program, you would just like us to do the initial assessment. Modular program delivery is shorter and within couple of weeks duration.

How much does it cost?

Based on the initial scoping each client will get a tailored proposal of activities and budget estimate. All of our services come with a performance guarantee which is stipulated in advance. Our one billable day is 300 EUR.

Basic package lasting 90 days and guaranteeing full adoption on 30% of the 100 person calculated target user base starts at 27.000 EUR ( pp. 270 EUR) The advanced package lasting 365 days, guaranteeing full adoption 90% of the target user base is budgeted estimated at 109.500 EUR.
